We provide supported living services to adults with developmental disabilities, who have chosen to live in their own homes in their communities.  At Santa Cruz Supported Living, we are committed to helping the people we serve to maximize their independence and quality of life.  We believe that all people have the right to live the life they want for themselves and to expect a healthy and safe environment where they can learn and grow.  Our mission (and yours, should you be hired) is to make that happen!  

What Santa Cruz Supported Living expects of you:

Employees are responsible for supporting the all-around well-being of the people receiving support services, including emotional and physical health and insuring their safety.  You are expected to assist the person or people you work with in leading a self-directed life, protect the privacy of that person and to recognize the human dignity and individuality of each person you serve and support.  A successful employee is reliable, energetic, flexible, and creative, with good communication skills and the ability to work either independently or as part of a team.  Lastly, it is important that every employee of Santa Cruz Supported Living act as a positive role model for the people we serve. 

Qualifications

Requirements for employment

  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Personal assistance:  ability to assist the individual served with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, toileting, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, and other self-help skills, per the needs of the individual served.  
  • Lifting/physical demands:  Ability to lift 50 or pounds frequently, per the needs of the individual served.
  • Challenging behaviors: Ability and willingness to support individuals that may have challenging behaviors
  • Ability to read and understand documents, write specific reports, identify baselines, apply systematic training techniques, solve complex problems, and to interpret written and verbal instructions.

  • At least one year of supporting adults with developmental disabilities (or similar experience) is strongly desired, with professional references.
  • Ability to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • The position may require a California driver’s license, clean driving record, and a registered and insured vehicle in safe driving condition.
  • Clean Department of Justice or criminal background check.
